Mentors

To implement a project successfully and to provide mentor services to our beneficiaries, S-ILF has partnered with local, grassroots organisations and individuals, called mentors. These organisations carry the same values in S-ILF believe. Most of the Mentors have worked in leprosy colonies for the first time but their endeavour for excellence has never stop them to end stigma and helping in creating a motivating environment for people affected with leprosy to earn a dignified livelihood.

Our Mentors are:

1. MPSSM ( Mahatma Phule Samaj Sewa Mandal)

President- Mr. Pramod Zinjade
Location- Solapur, MaharashtraMPSSM was established in the year of 1982 by the initiatives of local youths of Pothare village of Karmala block. They basically handle projects related to Agriculture, Livestock development, Floriculture, Watershed development etc. They have got support from funding agencies such as Oxfam, Indo German Social Service Society, AFARM, Water Aid, Save the Children, Australian High Commission and many more. So far they have worked in 17 districts & 24 blocks in Maharashtra.

2. UJJIBAN 03

Secretary- Mr. Ardhendu Banerjee
Location- Dist- Burdwan, West Bengal”UJJIBAN-03″ was established in 2003 with the mission to cater to the developmental needs of the backward and the downtrodden, It operates in 38 Blocks in Burdwan, Birbhum, Bankura and Purulia Districts in West Bengal India, working extensively on issues related to livelihood. It also started working in South 24 Parganas, particularly in Sunderban areas recently. They have received funding from NABARD, Govt Authorities, SarvaShikshaAbhiyan. Ujjiban is a major NGO partner while working on Disaster Management Program in collaboration with government of West Bengal under UNDP-GOI partnership.

3. Add India (Action for Disabled & Depressed in India)

President/ Chairman- Mr. M. Thangarajan
Location- Salem, Tamil NaduAdd India has been working since last 15 years in the field of social development in and around Salem district. They are closely working with Health dept, DRDA & agricultural wings. Their major focus is social empowerment & legal support towards the target communities.

4. People's Forum

Chairman- Mr. Chitta Pattnaik
COO- Mr. Sanjay Pattnaik
Location- Khurda & Bhubaneshwar, OdishaEstablished in the year 1989 and provides a platform for the vulnerable and deprived section of the community whose voices have remained unheard, rights ignored and basic entitlements unaccomplished. Their major focus areas are Health (including Mental Health) & Sanitation, Livelihood generation & Financial Inclusion. They have also spread their work to Chattishgarh& Madhya Pradesh. They do have very good entrepreneurship development programs and are spread in many parts of Odisha with good credibility.

5. Dharamitra

Secretary/ In charge- Dr. Khadse (based in Amravati)
Location- Wardha, MaharashtraFounded long ago by a group of scientists, primarily focusing on sustainable rural development through the application of appropriate science and technology alternatives. They have been working with various supports from CAPART, NCSTC, Govt of Maharashtra, UNDP, SWISSAID etc.

6. International Leprosy Union

Head- Mr. Bhonsle (present)
Location- Pune, MHEstablished in 1986 and have been working for the cause of Leprosy since then. Major thrust areas Advocacy & Networking among stakeholders in the field of Leprosy. They have also been working in Human Rights issues- concerning leprosy. They have closely worked with WHO & SMHF.

7. JANKALYAN

Head- Mr. Prasen Raptan
Location- Sindhanaur, Raichur, KarnatakaJanakalyan seeks to Create an enabling healthy environment, where all individual has equal access to and control over the Social, Cultural, Educational and Political Institutions with an economically secured livelihood. It works for Community Welfare, Agriculture, Water Resource Development, Renewable Energy Harnessing, Health, Entrepreneurship Development & marginalized communities.

8. POWER

Head- Mr. Siddhu Pujari
Location- Bijapur, KarnatakaPOWER is established mainly to the response of rural poor in northern Karnataka state. It works in the field of Natural resources management through organisingcommunity into viable community organisations, empowerment, Need based Quality education, Health, Self-reliance, agriculture, and livelihood promotion for women through value addition for organic agriculture produces.

9. MASS

Head- Mr. Chitranjan Hota
Location- Sambalpur, OdishaMASS pursues to facilitate action, research, training, networking and advocacy for the socio-economic and ecological development of the downtrodden masses by promoting their complete participation. It also works at a macro level promoting research, training, networking and advocacy.

10. SHARE

Head- Mr. Vinay Ranjan Saraswati
Location- West Singhbhoom, JharkhandThe Society for Human Assistance and Rural Empowerment (SHARE) works with tribals, women and marginalized groups in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand. SHARE mainly focuses on empowering socially excluded people to work collectively for their social and economic development and entitlements.

11. CARD

Head- Dr Vijay Sharma
Location- Bhopal, Madhya PradeshThe Centre of Advanced Research & Development (CARD) is a non- government organization established in India with its HQ at Bhopal ( Madhya Pradesh). CARD believes in Mainstream Development and Community based- Natural Resource Management approach to reduce rural poverty.

12. PRAYAS

Head- Mr. Murli Shyam
Location- Hazaribagh, JharkhandPrograme for Rural Action and Youth Association for social services is a hazaribagh based organization. Since its inception the organization has been working with rural poor with special reference to tribal youth. They are working in different districts of Jharkhand to empower youth and women, especially those from Scheduled Tribes (STs), to access their employment and health rights as a means to a sustainable, healthy livelihood.

13. Ms. Maya Ranavare

SILF has been working towards raising the capacities of the primary stakeholders and support them realizing their potential and regaining their dignity. Having this in mind, SILF contracted Maya Ji as the first Mentor (from our primary stakeholders) to facilitate the Centering Project in Ratnagiri, MH.

Maya has been actively supporting and taking up cases on Human Rights of Leprosy affected people and their families. She is also facilitating the education and advocacy work of S-ILF across many colonies in MH. Currently she is also working as one of the Trustees of APAL. Based on her performance and active involvement as a Mentor in Ratnagiri project, SILF has further extended her mentorship roles to facilitate the implementation of individual projects under the Livelihood Academy in Maharashtra.

14. Dr. Sabir Hussain

Dr. Hussain had a wide experience of working under various social development projects with WHO, ICMR, Centre of Advance Study, Ministry of HRD, IDEA India etc. He was contracted as an Individual Consultant to facilitate project in Ranchi- Jharkhand, Bankura & Puruliya in West Bengal.

15. Mr. D. Ravi

Mr. Ravi had earlier worked as Accountant & Welfare Officer with Idea India from 1998-2004. Earlier to that he was the Head of the Social Welfare & Rehabilitation Dept of the Sacred Heart Leprosy Center- Kumbakonam, TN. Overall he has a good experience of working on welfare activities especially in Tamil Nadu.

16. SAKK

Shikshan Ane Samaj Kalyan Kendra

SAKK is Amreli based organization. The Saurashtra region of Gujarat is drought prone. This has resulted in migration of the people for livelihood alternatives. Men move to find jobs leaving the women and children behind. In 1980, SSSK was formed to help communities generate income.

17. PECSS

Priyanshi Educational, Cultural And Social Society (PECSS)

Priyanshi Education, Cultural & Social Society (PECSS) is a voluntary, non-government, non-profit organization, registered as an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Society in the year 2002, when an initiative was taken by a group of persons consisting of renowned personalities, having technical and administrative acumen in the spheres of Education, Livelihood, Health, Environment and Culture for making concerted and noble efforts aimed to improve the overall quality of life of people, particularly the tribal, women, children, downtrodden and deprived sections of Society, living both in rural and urban areas, so that they are able to lead a respectable, healthy and economically self-dependent life. This initiative was culminated in the formation of this Society, with the following motive, mission, aims and objectives:

18. RISDT

Rural India Self Development Trust (RISDT)

A young Swiss national traveling in AP recognized the physical and social suffering of Persons affected by Leprosy (PAL) and started a small intervention called the People’s Clinic with the aim to provide medical care at their door step and also restore their dignity. Impressed by the success of the Clinic and the need to take the services to scale, Bruno Jehle along with his Indian friends founded RISDT in the year, 1983. It is a non-profit public health and development organization serving the most marginalized communities of East Godavari district, in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (AP). RISDT now works in the area of Leprosy, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Family Health, Secondary School Education and Rural Development.

19. NPDO

Network of Persons with Disability Organisation (NPDO)

Network Of Persons With Disabilities Organizations (Npdo) is an organization by the disabled of the disabled for the disabled registered under societies act in 2003 and relentlessly working for securing the rights of persons with disabilities and working with rights based approach, mobilizing the disabled community and empowering the disabled people organizations across the state of Andhra Pradesh.

20. VSK

Vanvasi Seva Kendra (VSK)

VSK is a Kaimur, Bihar based organization working with major focus on Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Agriculture, Education & Literacy, Food Processing, Health & Family Welfare, Micro Finance (SHGs), Panchayati Raj, Rural Development & Poverty Alleviation, Science & Technology, Tribal Affairs, Vocational Training, Water Resources, Women’s Development & Empowerment.

21. MKT

Manav Kalyan Trust (MKT)

Manav Kalyan Trust, a grassroot, non-governmental organization is working for the societies’ most ignored communities and aiding the tribal achieve sustainable livelihood with special importance to women empowerment in one of the poorest and most deprived belts of Gujarat state. It started in 1984 with the specific objective of strengthening and empowering the vulnerable tribal and pastoral groups of Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Kutch district of Gujarat state and has a long history of awakening and motivating the tribal and pastoral community towards attaining their rights, organizing protest against exploitation and injustice. It has made innumerable advocacy campaigns in its pursuit of this purpose and has challenged the inadequate and inappropriate policies.

22. JAGO

Jago Foundation is based in Dhanaydih, District: Giridih, Jharkhand.

23. MPSSM

Mahatma Phule Samaj Seva Mandal (MPSSM)

MPSSM is currently working in 15 districts of Maharashtra covering issues like National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Hygiene and Sanitation, Village Libraries, Stopping Seasonal Migrant children and enable to go in the schools in their native villages, education of migrant children, sustainable pre-primary education, advocacy with government, prohibition of child labour activities.

24. ROADS

ROADS is an organization working with different sectors of the community, Women and children development, disables people, working with who are living with HIV/AIDS people (Children’s, Men, Women’s), conducted awareness programs on different activities, working with Agriculture farmers. And it has been working among schedule caste, Schedule Tribes, and socio political economic backward communities of the society.
