Disadvantaged family affected by Leprosy background and comes from the Indo-Nepal border region of Raxaul, Bihar. Both his parents are engaged in weaving which provides little earning making it hard for the family to meet even their basic needs. This compelled him to not go for higher studies and instead choose a job that helps him provide for his family. He got to know about the His Holiness Dalai Lama-Sasakawa Scholarship (HHDL-S), an opportunity provided by S -ILF which helps young people, who are not able to complete their studies due to financial or other social constraints. He considered it to be a great opportunity and applied for an MBA from the reputed Presidency University in Bengaluru and was selected to avail the scholarship support. For the past 2 years, Mukesh has been working as an HR with Silicon Media, Bengaluru. Recently he further grew professionally and is now also looking after the sales and marketing division, getting Rs 25,000 per month. We strongly believe this is just a start for Mukesh and he also feels it’s the first step towards fulfilling his dreams. After securing a sustainable future for his family, he now plans to work overseas and explore such possibilities through his network developed while working with Little flower
With education costs continuously rising, it becomes challenging for weaker sections of society to access quality education.
