Mr Baijayant Jay Panda

Mr Baijayant Jay Panda is an Indian politician from Odisha. He is the national vice president and spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was a Member of Parliament in the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha and also a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 2000 to 2009.

Mr Panda is an active member of the Citizens’ Alliance against malnutrition, a high-level advocacy group composed of young parliamentarians, from various parties and other influential personalities. He has been an advocate of discouraging use of tobacco. His private bill in Parliament for plain packaging prompted a ban on advertising of tobacco products and graphical warnings on tobacco products. He is the author of numerous articles and Op-Ed in various newspapers and magazines around social issues like migration and labourers. He has been a long-time member of an informal Forum of Parliamentarians to free India of Leprosy.

Mr Panda has a degree in Engineering and Management in Communications from the Michigan Technological University.
