Through this program, S-ILF reinforces its commitment to the holistic development of children living in Leprosy colonies, promoting a safer and more inclusive environment for their growth and future opportunities.
The Children Development Program is designed to address the varied needs of these children’s academic, physical, and emotional. By providing a supportive and caring environment, the program helps them overcome social barriers, build a better future, and realise their full potential.
OUR APPROACH
- Safe learning habitats: bright, child-friendly rooms; small groups; caring educators from the community.
- Learning continuity: homework support + remedial tutoring to prevent slip-ups from becoming drop-outs.
- Confidence builders: football, self-defence and stage time to help shy kids find their voice.
- Digital first steps: simple, hands-on modules that demystify computers, forms and online safety.
- Community anchors: libraries, parent circles and APAL partnerships keep progress rooted and sustained.
WHAT WE AIM TO DO
When children get steady learning help, a ball at their feet, a book in their hands, and adults who cheer them on, everything shifts—grades, confidence, friendships, even how a community sees its future. The Children’s Development Program is that steady nudge, week after week.
The next step involves deepening reading and digital benchmarks, widening sports/self-defence cohorts, and finally, adding more ASLCs where demand is strongest so that every child in every colony gets a fair shot.
