Prof Mohan Gupte

Prof Mohan Gupte is a distinguished epidemiologist and recipient of the International Gandhi Award. He brings nearly 50 years of dedicated experience in Leprosy and public health. As the founding director of the ICMR National Institute of Epidemiology, Prof Gupte has been instrumental in advancing public health research and interventions, especially in the area of Leprosy. His pioneering work includes conducting numerous vaccine and clinical trials in Leprosy. Prof Gupte also served as the first chairman of the WHO Technical Advisory Group for Leprosy Elimination, where he contributed significantly to global efforts to combat and eliminate Leprosy.
