Yellow Ribbon: Working towards Leprosy Free Minds!
Yellow Ribbon is a symbol of support to end discrimination against people affected by Leprosy. By wearing a Yellow Ribbon, YOU pledge to become an Ambassador for the cause of Leprosy. It is a promise to treat people affected by Leprosy with dignity through the following five paths:
REMEMBER: Every person is born free and equal in dignity and human rights
KNOW: Discrimination based on leprosy is a violation of human rights
ACKNOWLEDGE: People affected by Leprosy and their families are equal members of society
REJECT: the use of derogatory words such as ‘leper’
SPREAD THE WORD: that leprosy is not hereditary. It is completely curable through free of cost treatment
Engage as a Volunteer/ Intern
If you are thinking of a career in the development sector, or if you think you have a zeal to serve the marginalised, then an internship at S-ILF would be a perfect beginning for you. Each year, S-ILF’s Volunteer/ Internship Programme offers eligible students from diverse background, an opportunity to attain practical familiarity with S-ILF’s work.
S-ILF has been working on mainstreaming and integration of highly discriminated persons affected by leprosy and their families across India. Under S-ILF’s three categorized domains: Socio-Economic Rehabilitation, Education and Awareness & Advocacy, you can find something for yourself.
The internship role is based at S-ILF’s New Delhi office with field visits, if required.
